Can make a difference
Now Airpods Pro 2 connected to an iPhone or iPad can perform a professional hearing test and then, if it shows impaired hearing, act as a hearing aid.
You can find the hearing test itself in the settings menu of the phone, under the heading for Airpods Pro. Here, you first have to make sure that you are in a quiet environment, that the headphones fit well in your ears, and then you will hear a series of different beeps. You have to tap the screen to confirm that you heard the beep and the whole test takes about 5 minutes. First left ear, then right. The results are reported immediately and also saved in Apple Health, so you can retake the test several times over time and see differences.
My test shows no hearing loss, so I can’t fully test the assistive features, but the results can at least be used to customize the sounds and match the user’s unique hearing ability.
