Criticism from Swedish Business
However, the new law has met with criticism, including from the Swedish Business Confederation. They believe that employers are getting unnecessary extra work, because they now have to submit information about their employees’ absences when they make their regular reports to the Tax Agency.
– It is very unfortunate that an additional burden is placed on the companies. The application for vab compensation should be the individual’s responsibility, says Catharina Bäcksocial security expert at Swedish Enterprise, to SVT.
Catharina Bäck also proposes that the previous “kindergarten certificates” that were abolished ten years ago should be reintroduced. The certificates meant that preschools confirmed whether a child had been sick. Försäkringskassan is open to discussing the proposal.
