The Conclave thriller set in the Vatican was directed by Edward Berger, known for Netflix’s All Quiet on the Western Front.
Focus Features has released the first trailer and a bunch of photos for the Conclave thriller set in the Vatican, starring Ralph Fiennes as Cardinal Lawrence.
He will be responsible for the organization of one of the oldest and most secret events in the world, i.e. the election of the new Pope. The movie’s synopsis says the following in the original language.
”Conclave follows one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events – selecting a new Pope. Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is tasked with running this covert process after the unexpected death of the beloved Pope. Once the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence finds himself at the center of a conspiracy and discovers a secret that could shake the very foundation of The Church.”
In addition to Fiennes, the film stars Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Carlos Diehz, Lucian Msamati, Brían F. O’Byrne, Merab Ninidze, Sergio Castellitto and Isabella Rossellini.
The director is Edward Berger, best known for the Netflix movie All Quiet on the Western Front, and Peter Straughan is responsible for the script. The film is based on the 2016 book of the same name by Robert Harris.
Conclave arrives in US theatrical distribution on November 8th. The Finnish premiere is not yet clear.
