GeForce Now has established itself as one of the best streaming game services and NVIDIA continues to evolve it. The chameleon brand is making some important changes, starting with the arrival of the Performance subscription. It takes the place of the Priority formula and takes advantage of this renaming to move to 1440p, instead of the 1080p in force until now. The new offering now supports ultrawide resolutions, an option that was previously only available to Ultimate members.
Finally, Performance and Ultimate members can save their graphics settings in-game across streaming sessions. Gamers will find their personalized configuration every time they log in, including for NVIDIA RTX features in supported titles.
Improvements for players and a limit of 100 hours of gameplay
The best news for gamers is that GeForce Now has decided to keep the same prices. Despite the improvements, the Performance subscription remains at 10.99 euros per month (54.99 euros for six months) and the Ultimate offer costs 21.99 euros per month (or 109 euros for six months). The latter remains the flagship solution of the service, including access to servers equipped with the GeForce RTX 4080 to play up to 4K HDR and 120 frames per second (in 1080p).
There is still a downside to this lack of price increase, the introduction of a limit of 100 hours of play per month. NVIDIA confirms that the rule will come into effect from January 1, 2025 for new members who opt for a Performance or Ultimate subscription. “This allows GeForce NOW to continue to deliver unmatched quality and speed – as well as low to no wait times – to all paying members, without increasing membership fees.”specifies NVIDIA. According to the firm, this change will affect “less than 6% of members” and current subscribers will only be affected from January 1, 2026. They will therefore benefit from unlimited playing time for an additional year.
The limit of 100 hours of play corresponds to more than 12 sessions of 8 hours for Ultimate subscribers or more than 16 sessions of 6 hours for Performance subscribers. Hours not played during a month may be added to the 100 hours of the following month, up to a limit of 15 hours. Finally, players will be able to purchase additional 15 hour boosters for $2.99 (Performance) or $5.99 (Ultimate).
No price increase, but until when?
Nvidia insists introducing maximum playtime helps avoid price increases “for everyone”. However, a price increase cannot be completely ruled out in the future.
Indeed, the famous chip manufacturer indicates that the measurement allows “to keep prices unchanged for the near future”. In the meantime, players can test the service by choosing a discounted day pass. The Ultimate and Performance day passes are displayed with a reduction of 25% until November 22, 2024, i.e. 3.29 euros (instead of 4.39 euros) for the Performance offer and 6.59 euros (instead of 8.79 euros) for the Ultimate formula.
