The cloud-based gaming service Geforce Now is getting some changes, writes Nvidia in a blog post.
Starting January 1, 2025, new users will be subject to a monthly playtime limit of 100 hours. Existing customers who do not cancel their paid membership will continue to have unlimited playing time until January 2026.
According to Nvidia, only about 6 percent of users reach these 100 hours per month. In addition, unused playtime, up to 15 hours, is carried over to the next month. Should it still not be enough, it does not have to be a playoff either, but extra time can be bought.
New name of intermediate package
The changes also concern the “Priority” subscription package, which is now renamed “Performance” and receives certain improvements. Among other things, it is now possible to stream games in up to 1440p and save graphics settings between game sessions. These things were previously exclusive to the more expensive Ultimate tier.
Although the limitation in playing time may affect some really diligent players, most users will probably breathe a sigh of relief that Nvidia’s changes do not mean increased prices. Just over a year ago, Geforce Now received a 30 percent price increase in Sweden.
