NVIDIA is reportedly canceling the development of a dual-rack graphics card

NVIDIA has reportedly halted and discontinued dual-rack graphics card development. It will focus on single-rack graphics processors.

NVIDIA originally planned to develop three GB200 models based on Blackwell GPUs for AI and HPC workloads. However, the management and management of all three projects became so demanding that the company stopped developing the dual-rack model NVL36x2 and concentrated only on the two single-channel models NVL72 and NVL36.

NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 is the most powerful solution of this manufacturer that we know of for now. But it is also the most energy-demanding solution, as it consumes about 120 kW.

The GB200 NVL36x2 configuration was to consist of two racks, each with 18 Grace CPUs and 36 Blackwell GPUs. However, the NVL36x2 would consume even more power, at 132 kW.

It should also be noted that servers with Blackwell processors are not expected to launch until 2025. At this stage, the form factors of these machines remain unknown.
