The company has ambitious plans for 2025.
A Financial Times reports that Nvidia may turn even more towards robotics in the near future. Following this, the chip manufacturing company plans to introduce a new generation of compact computers called Jetson Thor in the first half of 2025, which are developed specifically for humanoid robots. The move is part of a years-long, long-term development strategy aimed at expanding in the field of robotics.
Nvidia does not want to compete directly with leading manufacturers such as Tesla. Instead, it wants to provide a technological base for hundreds of thousands of manufacturers as an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) partner – confirmed Deepu Talla, the company’s vice president responsible for robotics.
As for the 2025 approach, Talla says two key technological breakthroughs are behind it: the explosion of generative AI models, and the ability to train robots in simulated environments.
Another important aspect is that tech giants such as Amazon and Google are already working to reduce their dependence on Nvidia’s AI chips with their own solutions. However, if Nvidia is able to maintain its leading role in innovation, there is a good chance that large companies will continue to choose its technology.
