Of course, fraudsters – – also appeared in connection with Friday’s big IT disaster

Cybersecurity companies and experts are trying to draw attention to the fact that fraudsters can also be a threat in the aftermath of the recent global CrowdStrike disaster.

On Friday, also reported that online services were paralyzed by an IT error unknown at the time in many countries, and the networks of airports, banks, the stock exchange, emergency call management lines, and various online media were also involved in the case.

It was later revealed that the software of the cyber security company CrowdStrike, more specifically an update of an antivirus, was responsible for the global panic, although Microsoft was previously blamed for what happened, based on the fact that the problem crippled Windows-based systems. According to the news, approx. 8.5 million Windows devices were affected by the update bug, and even more of them failed to restart properly.

It is therefore no wonder that the fraudsters also appeared during the cleanup after the chaos, since the world has now become thoroughly familiar with the name CrowdStrike, and they are trying to abuse it.

Security experts, but even George Kurtz, the head of CrowdStrike himself, tried to draw attention to the fact that before installing any update, you should carefully check whether it really came from their company.

Fake “updates” arrive in large numbers in the mail, which let a virus onto the system if the user is careless. This phenomenon mainly affects large companies, which work to repair the damage after the shutdown, but due to the high attention, private individuals can also fall victim to the phenomenon, so if they offer any help in the name of CrowdStrike or Microsoft, it is worth checking very carefully that they are not phishers is it an attack?
