Officers catch 18-year-old in Audi A4 after 32 kilometer car chase

An 18-year-old man managed to escape the police over a stretch of 32 kilometers before he was caught and arrested in a forest south of Køge on Zealand.

This is according to Michael Hymøller, who is the head of duty at the Central and West Zealand Police, early on Saturday morning.

The 18-year-old has been arrested and will probably be charged with reckless driving. The police have made measurements of his top speed, but they still need to be verified.

Hymøller explains that the 18-year-old did not have a driver’s license, which is why he was probably so eager to get away from the police.

Over a stretch of 32 kilometres, the officers chased him from around Ringsted to a forest south of Køge, where he and two passengers got out of the car and tried to escape on foot.

However, it ended with a “good coordinated police effort”, says Michael Hymøller.

The police dog patrol captured the 18-year-old man, who is now in police custody.

The police have also seized the man’s car, an Audi A4 of older vintage, with a view to confiscation. The police can confiscate a car and sell it at auction if he is convicted of reckless driving.

The car’s two passengers were briefly arrested, but were released again when it became clear who was the car’s driver.
