The new reinforcement of Crvena zvezda in the summer transfer window is goalkeeper Marko Ilić.
Marko Ilić was born on February 3, 1998. He played for the younger selections of Vojvodina, and in Serbia he also wore the jersey of Proleter and Voždovac. This was followed by a trip to Belgium, where he defended the colors of Kortrijk, and from 2023 he tried himself in the MLS league, where he stood in the Colorado goal. At the beginning of the calendar year, he was sent on loan to Norwegian Sarpsborg, where he spent one half-season.
– I am honored to be part of such a club, and excited at the same time. I would like to thank all the people who worked on the realization of my transfer to Zvezda. I think I took a detour. I was in Voždovac for several years, then I went to Belgium, and after that to MLS, while before coming to Zvezda I was on loan in Norway. I consider that I am relatively young for a goalkeeper, but I already have a lot of international experience. Although I came to Zvezda by a detour, everything before led me to this moment and I am really happy about it. – pointed out Marko Ilić.
The young goalkeeper has already gained significant international experience.
– I am sure that the experience gained will help me a lot in moments when the pressure is great. The period I spent in Belgium will be particularly significant for me, I played serious games, in great stadiums and under a lot of pressure. I can’t wait to get on the pitch and feel that atmosphere for the first time. I am sure that with the help of the fans we will play the best we can and we will try to concede as few goals as possible.
Acquaintance with Zvezda first team member Mirko Ivanić will make Ilić’s adaptation period significantly easier.
– I didn’t have a chance to talk to my teammates, I know some of them, for example Mirko Ivanić from the days when I was in Vojvodina, I’m sure he will help me adapt as soon as possible.

Sports director of Zvezda Mitar Mrkela was pleased to point out the potential of the new goalkeeper of Crvena zvezda – Marko Ilić.
– I know Marko Ilić very well from the junior national teams of the Football Association of Serbia. He went through Vojvodina school, gained experience in Voždovac, and later in Kortrijk, Colorado and Sarpsborg, and in his best years as a goalkeeper, he comes to our club. Crvena zvezda has always had good goalkeepers, not just one, but several. In the last seven or eight years we had Borjan and Popović, now we have Glazer and Marko Ilić is coming, who will strengthen the competition and be the security of our team in the future. All the goalkeepers have improved here. We have an excellent coach – Dusan Gašić, who has developed many goalkeepers, and I believe that Marko Ilić will also improve through training with him and be a pillar of Crvena zvezda.
