The open version of the Utopia was unveiled by Pagani today, with the car sporting AMG’s 6.0-liter (5,980 cc) V12 twin-turbo engine. The contained angle between the two rows of cylinders is 60 degrees and its performance reaches 865 horses at 6,000 rpm, with its torque reaching 1,100 Nm, being constant from 2,800 rpm. up to 5,900 rpm
Drive is transferred to the rear axle via a transversely mounted Xtrac 7-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), which Pagani claims is the fastest helical gear transmission. Optionally there is a “pure” manual 7-speed gearbox with clutch and an electromechanical differential on the rear axle. It has a top speed of 350 km/h.
Under the body, the Utopia is based on a monocoque frame made of Carbo-Titanium HP62 G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62, Pagani materials. The front and rear subframes are made of Chromoly steel, while the body uses what Pagani refers to as a “new type of Class A carbon”, which is 38% more rigid but with the same density as the previous carbon versions.
The quad exhaust tip is made of titanium with a ceramic coating and weighs 6 kg, with the total weight of the car not exceeding 1,280 kg, the same as the closed version. The open Utopia has a hardtop, active suspension consisting of forged aluminum double wishbones and electronically controlled shock absorbers.
On the front axle there are 21-inch rims and on the rear 22-inch wheels, with Pirelli PZero Corsa tires, dimensions 265/35 front and 325/30 rear. Hidden inside are Brembo carbon-ceramic discs, with six-piston calipers at the front and four at the rear.
Inside, Utopia eschews the modern trend of using multiple screens. There is only one screen between the analog speedometer and the tachometer, as it lacks a screen for infotainment. Pagani covers the center console with an array of instruments, switches and controls for the air conditioning.
Production of the new supercar will be limited to 130 cars, with each costing €3.1 million.
