Oh Seung-rok, the head of Nowon-gu District Office, attended the ‘Seokgye Station Moonlight Night Walk’ event held at the Seokgye Station Culture Park in Nowon-gu, Seoul at 4 PM on the 21st.
The Seokgye Station Moonlight Night Walk was selected for the Seoul City ‘2024 Nighttime and Food Culture Activation Support Project’ and was planned to revitalize the stagnant Wolgye-dong alleyway shopping district and promote the charm of the local shopping district.
The area around Seokgye Station Cultural Park was decorated with a variety of food items to match the food culture event. Local merchants from Nowon-gu, including Wolgye-dong and Gongneung-dong, participated and presented high-quality and reasonably priced food.
The various drinks prepared by Nowon’s craft beer brewery and Gongneung-dong Dokkaebi Market Merchants Association were also very popular. Foods provided at a total of 22 booths, coffee and desserts at 5 booths, and craft beer and craft makgeolli at 3 booths captivated the taste buds of visitors.
On the main stage, singer Hyun Jin-young’s main performance, DJing, retro dancing, and other various performances were held, heightening the festival atmosphere. A children’s playground was also set up, providing entertainment for families.
On the day of the event, the Seokgye Station public parking lot was transformed into a resting place for visitors, where busking performances on acoustic guitar and experiential programs reminiscent of the 7080s were held, receiving a great response.
Oh Seung-rok, the Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “I hope that the ‘Seokgye Station Moonlight Night Walk,’ a food culture event with added cultural events, will revitalize local commercial districts, including Wolgye-dong,” and added, “We will continue to strive to take further steps toward local economic development through various opportunities where local commercial districts and culture come together.”
