Dwayne Johnson, who stars in Disney’s Moana animations, will also be seen in his familiar role in the upcoming live action film adaptation.
When pictures from the set of the upcoming Moana movie spread earlier this year, many wondered how big Dwayne Johnson looked. Of course, the Fast & Furious star has been in terrible shape for a long time, but suddenly he seemed to have significantly more muscle mass than before.
Now Johnson has admitted In an interview with Extra that he used the so-called muscle suit to better fit the role of the demigod Maui (pictured above).

“When they (photos from the filming location) spread, I was like, oh shit, we got caught. We had put up walls so the paparazzi wouldn’t see us, but they came in boats and started taking pictures,” Johnson revealed.
Dwayne Johnson also used the costume for Maui’s numerous tattoos. The makers of Vaiana saved considerable time when Johnson’s own skin did not have to be decorated again every day of filming.
Vaiana, directed by Thomas Kail, will premiere in the summer of 2026. The first of the Vaiana animations can be viewed on Disney+. The second premiered in Finnish theaters today.
