The paper states that a sophisticated security concept is applied at Oktoberfest – entrance controls, ban on large bags, knives and glass bottles, presence of a large number of police officers and concrete pots to prevent car attacks.
For the first time, about 40 hand-held metal detectors will be used randomly during inspections, announced the director of the popular festival, Klemens Baumgertner.
As he stated, there will be around 600 police officers and several thousand security guards on duty. Mayor Dieter Reiter said that the competent services did everything they could to ensure the safety of visitors.
According to Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Hermann, there are no concrete signs of danger, but the general threat level from Islamist terrorism is high. Euronews
