Samsung is bringing the OneUI 6 update (based on Wear OS 5) to older watches after showing off what its new interface can do with the new Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra. The new version brings an updated user interface as well as new health tracking features such as Sleep Apnea detection and new exercise modes.
First of all, here are the watch models that are eligible for upgrade. The distribution will start today with the Watch6 series and will be available for older models.
Samsung Galaxy Watch6
Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Classic
Samsung Galaxy Watch5
Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro
Samsung Galaxy Watch4
Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic
Samsung Galaxy Watch FE
Sleep Apnea detection feature received De Novo approval from the FDA. Additionally, sleep metrics are now tracked by an AI algorithm that looks at your movement during sleep, sleep latency, and heart and respiratory rates. The watches will calculate an Energy Score based on sleep, activity and more.
For exercise, you can enable Race mode for running and cycling; This allows you to compare your current performance with your past performances. You can also create a personal Workout Routine.
The user interface introduces new watch faces, from simple, minimalist ones like the Simple Digital watch face to statistics-rich ones like the Information Dashboard.
When connected to a Galaxy smartphone, the watch will be able to answer calls, turn off alarms, take photos and more using Double Pinch Gestures.
