Like a handful of other pop world’s biggest stars, Olivia Rodrigo first broke through in a youth series at Disney. Since then, like for example Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, she made the journey from children’s and youth series to the biggest pop scenes.
This summer, American Olivia Rodrigo will be on Roskilde Festival’s Orange Stage, where the then 22-year-old singer can be expected to perform hits such as “Drivers license”, “Vampire” and “Deja vu”.
And according to the festival’s music director, Thomas Sønderby Jepsen, the guests can rejoice.
– She is a voice of the times, and we are very proud that Olivia Rodrigo has chosen Roskilde Festival as her only Scandinavian performance in 2025. The concert will be a manifestation that will go down in the history books, says Thomas Sønderby Jepsen in a press release.
Olivia Rodrigo last visited Denmark in May this year, where she gave a sold-out concert in the Royal Arena in Copenhagen.
On Thursday, Denmark’s biggest music festival also announces 24 other new names for next summer’s festival.
On the poster, there will be room for, among others, American-British Anoushka Shankar, daughter of the sitar icon Ravi Shankar, who, if anyone, was the man who brought Indian sounds into Western music.
Anoushka, who is the half-sister of Norah Jones, is quite firm on a sitar herself.
Artigeardit, one of Danish hip-hop’s currently biggest names, is also among the names on the Orange Stage next summer.
– His path to Orange Stage is a glimpse of what Roskilde Festival stands for: a springboard for artistic development, where dreams can become reality. Artigeardit inspires a new generation of young people to dream big – and we are proud to be a part of that, says Thomas Sønderby Jepsen.
A month ago, Roskilde Festival presented the first 28 artists for the 2025 poster, including Stormzy, Fontaines DC, Arca, Beth Gibbons, MØ and Electric Callboy.
With Thursday’s additions, a total of 53 names have been announced for the program, which ends up offering around 200 music names.
Next year’s Roskilde Festival takes place from 28 June to 5 July.
