Olympia 2024: German gold prophecy comes true

Team D won twelve gold medals at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, thus fulfilling the prediction of the renowned sports magazine “L’Équipe”.

Before the start of the Summer Olympics, “L’Équipe” had predicted twelve gold medals for the German team. The French sports magazine was right.

The paper predicted a total of 36 medals (12 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze) for Germany. Here, “L’Équipe” was only slightly off the mark. The German athletes ultimately won 33 medals in Paris (12 gold, 13 silver and eight bronze).

Overall fewer medals than in 2021

At the previous Summer Games in Tokyo in 2021, the German team was able to collect a total of 37 medals (ten gold, eleven silver and 16 bronze), which was equivalent to ninth place in the medal table.

After the closing ceremony on Monday, a large part of the German delegation travelled by train from Paris to Cologne, where there was a reception in the historic town hall.
