The Olympic Truce Wall was unveiled in the Olympic Village in Paris on Monday, with athletes from 206 countries and representatives of the IOC refugee team participating in the event.
“You are the messengers of peace for our time. You Olympians will show us what our world would be like if we all lived in the same spirit of peaceful coexistence,” Bach said.
“You will compete against each other, but at the same time you will live together under the same roof, here in the Olympic village. You follow the same rules, and the most important thing is that you respect each other. This is how you send peace from Paris message to the whole world,” the IOC president continued.
Bach expressed hope that it would also inspire political leaders to act for peace.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
