The Olympic routes have been in operation for 10 days, and some anti-Olympic activists are taking advantage of the opportunity to engage in some dangerous actions.
Damaging other people’s property to put forward one’s convictions is a method that is unfortunately certainly not foreign to Parisians. Indeed, for several years now, environmental activists have been deflating the tires of SUVs parked in the capital, justifying the fact that these vehicles are an ecological aberration.
Although this phenomenon seems to have calmed down in recent months, the Olympic lanes reserved for officials, athletes, taxis and accredited persons during the Olympic Games period seem to have awakened a feeling of hatred in some.
Olympic routes not so safe anymore
After 10 days of operation, while taxis seem very happy with this measure, which sometimes allows them to halve their travel time, other motorists are faced with traffic jams even more than before, not to mention the areas completely closed to traffic. In total, 185 km of road axis are affected by these Olympic waysand woe betide anyone who takes this route without authorization, because the fine will amount to 135 eurosincluding for bicycles!
As reported by journalists from Parisianthese Olympic routes seem to annoy more than one person, starting with anti-Olympic activists who found nothing better to do than throw nails at the reserved lanes of the ring road. Result? Lots of flat tires. An account on the X network encourages people to throw nails on the reserved lanes ” so that the athletes and their security agents remain stuck on the ring road in their flat G7 rather than rushing off to parade at the stadium ยป.
Accidents are increasing
For their part, several taxis, which are authorized to drive on these roads, suspect the VTC drivers, who cannot use these roads. The police prefer to play the caution card and prefer to investigate before jumping to hasty conclusions.
To make matters worse, accidents are also not uncommon. There are many pile-ups, particularly due to drivers pulling out without warning, while road users tend to drive a little too fast because the traffic is rather light.
On the ring road, motorcyclists changed lanes between lanes, which caused some problems with cars which also moved less due to a lack of space, causing, there too, a few more collisions.
