OMV and Siemens approach cooperation on the electrification of car depots

  • CO2 neutral solutions for heavy trucks and logistics companies
  • Tailor-made charging infrastructure and operation for bus and logistics centers
  • eDepá with 360-degree solutions for simple and sustainable electrification
  • Implementation first in Austria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary

OMV AG and Siemens AG Österreich have agreed to reduce CO emissions in a Memorandum of Understanding2 in the field of heavy truck transport and for logistics companies. “We want to jointly implement innovative and efficient solutions for the electrification of vehicle depots, which not only meet the technological challenges of today, but also pave the way for the mobility of tomorrow,” says Gerrit Pürstl, who heads the eMobility business area at Siemens AG Österreich. “This partnership represents another milestone in our efforts to make bus and heavy goods transport in Europe more environmentally friendly.”

The electric drive is playing an increasingly important role in the traffic of heavy trucks. The number of electric buses and trucks has been growing significantly for years, and vehicle operators demand corresponding charging options. This is precisely the goal of the cooperation between OMV AG and Siemens AG Österreich. Both companies intend to provide innovative and future-proof charging solutions – so-called eDepots – to meet the demand for sustainable mobility. They offer fleet operators a number of advantages, especially in the transport and logistics sector. “Combining our strengths and expertise, we offer intelligent complete solutions in eDepots managed by OMV AG. Thanks to this measure, we want the transition to electric mobility to be as smooth as possible for the customer,” emphasizes Peter Vyšný, vice president of eMobility OMV AG.

The use of future-oriented eDep for the transport of heavy goods vehicles allows companies not only to significantly reduce operating costs and CO emissions2but also to increase the availability of the vehicle fleet. OMV AG focuses on so-called 360-degree solutions in eDepots. They include a variety of services from infrastructure planning to the deployment of charging stations to network utilization optimization and detailed analysis. The vehicle fleet can be electrified through eDep in a simple, efficient and sustainable way.

Cooperation between OMV AG and Siemens AG Österreich will first take place in the pilot phase in Austria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary.
