Experts from the British association specializing in sleep problems, the British Sleep Society, have called for the abolition of moving the hands of the clock twice a year, i.e. for summer time.

This request stems from the negative effects that moving the clock has on the quality of sleep and health in general, and this debate has taken root in other European countries as well.

So, according to the authors of the paper published in the Journal of Sleep Research, winter time should be used throughout the year, which will take effect next weekend and remain active until spring.

Scientists explain this by saying that the presence of sunlight in the morning is necessary for health, while daylight saving time during the summer forces people to wake up while it is still dark.

“Calculating summer time during winter has negative effects on people’s health,” the research states and adds:

“Moving the clock in the spring has the most negative effect on the circadian rhythm. More precisely, to the physical, psychological and behavioral changes that we experience during 24 hours”, writes Miror, as reported by N1.

How does turning back the clock affect our productivity?

However, it should be noted that this research refers to Great Britain, which does not have as many hours of sunshine as Serbia or other Mediterranean countries, which is why the need for each country to make its own decision and stand by it is emphasized. It is important, the scientists emphasize, to stop moving the clock twice a year.
