SOCIAL NETWORKS – A trend that is still causing damage. While scrolling on TikTok, coming across a person trying to fit almost entirely into their own suitcase has become normal in recent days on the social network. However, this trend – identified under the hashtag #ilikemysuitcase and initially surprising – presents health risks. No surprise.

Trend or TikTok challenge now essential, the challenge consists of filming yourself putting your entire body, except your head, into a suitcase, before being dragged by a loved one. All on a remix of a child’s voice, visibly very happy with his ” suit case », or briefcase in French.

This trend actually comes from a curious misappropriation of a video captured by the CNN channel 14 years ago, in which Donald Trump’s son, Barron, then 4 years old, is delighted with his brand new briefcase in front of his parents . Hence the “ I like my suitcase ».

Republished a few days ago on the Daily Mail on TikTokas the magazine explains Forbes on November 25, a clip of this CNN video immediately went viral and was quickly hijacked by users. Without sometimes knowing where the initial extract comes from.

“Participating in this activity may harm you”

If we can smile at the unusual images of a face emerging from a suitcase, its origins raise questions since the slogan “ I like my suitcase » spread on social networks, Forbes citing several derivatives of the trend taken up in particular by pro-Trump accounts.

But in the short term, the most worrying concern concerns the health of users trying out the new popular TikTok trend. Gianna Harner, an American influencer with more than 11 million subscribers, can attest to this after violently hitting her head on the ground without being able to break her fall.

What she herself revealed in another video discussing the consequences of the challenge. The video is also subtly titled « I do not like my suitcase ».

“Like an idiot, I participated in this trend (…) and now I wonder if I should go to the emergency room (…). I have a bad headache, a huge bump on the side of my head, and I feel nauseous. Just opening my eyes hurts and I feel pressure on my head.e,” testified the young woman, whose symptoms are strangely reminiscent of those of a concussion. But that’s not enough to stop some, who continue to publish their participation in the challenge, with or without a fall at the end of the video.

Belgian media The Freespecifies however that the Chinese social network has slipped on the latest publications of this type the mention “Participating in this activity may harm you or others.”
