ONE Championship on Film: Boss Chatri Collaborates with ‘The Beast In Me’ Film Team, Starring Russell Crowe
ONE Championship (ONE), the world’s largest martial arts organization, has officially announced a partnership with Broken Open Pictures to produce “The Beast In Me,” a mixed martial arts (MMA) action-drama film set to begin filming later this year and featuring the ONE Lumpinee Boxing Stadium event.
ONE will play a major role in the film, which stars Oscar winner Russell Crowe, best known for his work on Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man, and co-wrote the screenplay, along with Land of Bad, Foundation and Infini star Daniel Macpherson, as well as many other talented actors.
The film will also feature a number of ONE athletes, including ONE Founder, Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
The film crew plans to travel to Thailand to film some of the content, using ONE Lumpinee on January 24, 2025 at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, as an important scene, and will use real action from the actual competition on that day on the film, including recording footage of activities that occurred throughout the competition week. Chatri Sityodtong spoke openly about this important collaboration, saying:
“I am thrilled to be working with the acclaimed cast and crew of ‘The Beast in Me.’ I am confident that ONE is the best platform to help tell the story of resilience, perseverance and determination. We can’t wait to welcome the entire team to ONE Lumpinee in Bangkok this January.”
For the content of the film The Beast In Me, “Daniel Macpherson” will play a former mixed martial arts (MMA) athlete who loses his job and faces a tragedy involving his older brother. Before receiving help from an experienced trainer, played by “Russell Crowe”, which makes him decide to avenge his brother by returning to compete in ONE after hanging up his gloves.
Tyler Atkins will direct the film, while Frigerio, Tim O’Hare and John Schwartz are producing, with Shane Abbess and Brett Thornquest producing.
