Awaited by Galaxy smartphone owners, the One UI 7 update will introduce several changes to Samsung smartphones. In particular, there should be a new design.
Expected in January, the future Galaxy S25s should be delivered under One UI 7, Samsung’s overlay derived from Android 15. The update is highly anticipated by fans of the brand, who have not had any official news for months . Rumor accounts announce the arrival of the beta update every week… but nothing ever happens. Logic would dictate that One UI 7 be finalized by the start of the year, with a release on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 between December and January.
On November 29, 2024, Samsung unfortunately gave news for the very first time. The Spanish page dedicated to One UI has briefly revealed the interface of One UI 7before being disconnected. The official announcement should not take long.
A much cleaner interface: One UI 7 should be a big update
Unlike Android 15, which brings almost nothing in itself (except for a private folder to hide applications and documents), One UI 7 should bring several major new features to Samsung smartphones. Among them:
- A new, more rounded design, with new icons, larger notifications or a new interface for the control center.
- A dynamic widget for timers or music, at the bottom of the screen. This would be a response to the iPhone’s Dynamic Island.
- Better animations, a point often criticized at Samsung.
- New options for generating images from drawings or photos, with 3D cartoon, drawing or painting styles.
- New protections for children, especially on the Galaxy Store.
Other new features will probably be on the One UI 7 program, which could give a new visual identity to Samsung smartphones.
When will One UI 7 be available on recent Samsung Galaxy devices?
Samsung plans to deploy One UI 7 on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold 6/5/4, Galaxy Z Flip 6/5/5, Galaxy Tab S10, S9 and S8. The brand has not yet committed to a date, but the first devices could be served by the end of the year.
Typically, Samsung first rolls out One UI in beta on early devices. It is likely that the brand will begin with a testing phase, probably from the first week of December, before a rollout at the end of the year. However, the short time suggests a possible delay in the official release, the time to correct the bugs spotted by the testers.
Whatever happens, One UI 7 will be available on the Galaxy S24 and recent Samsung smartphones before the launch of the Galaxy S25, which rumors announce for the end of January.
We can only hope that Samsung makes its customers wait less next time, especially since Android 16 is already in the testing phase.
