There they are: the OnePlus 13 and 13R will soon be for sale in the Netherlands. Read here what the new smartphones cost and what they have to offer.
OnePlus 13 to the Netherlands
OnePlus announces its first smartphones of 2025. The OnePlus 13 has already been presented in China and is now also coming to our country. With a price of 999 euro the smartphone is more expensive than its predecessor, although many improvements have been made.
The OnePlus 13 is equipped with the fastest processor of the moment, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The chip is a lot more powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that was in the OnePlus and is also more energy efficient. The phone has 256GB of storage space as standard, although a version with 512GB is also available.
The battery of the OnePlus 13 is a lot larger (6000 mAh) than that of the 12 (5400 mAh). Combined with the economical processor, this should ensure a long battery life. Charging is fast: with a 100-watt plug, the phone fully charges in 36 minutes. Wireless charging is also possible and uses a maximum of 50 watts.
More luxurious, flat screen and cameras
Although the 6.82-inch screen has not become larger or smaller, the edges are less curved. The OnePlus 13 therefore has a flatter display, although the edges are still slightly rounded. The resolution is very high at 3168 by 1440 pixels and the peak brightness of 4500 nits means that images are always easy to read.
New is the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which should work a lot faster and more accurately. The OnePlus 13 also has an IP69 certificate, making the phone more resistant to water. There are three 50-megapixel cameras on the back: a main camera, wide-angle lens and telephoto lens. OnePlus is working with Hasselblad again for color matching of photos.
Then the software of the OnePlus 13. The smartphone runs out of the box on Android 15 with the OxygenOS shell. OnePlus promises to provide the phones with four major Android upgrades, making them supported up to and including Android 19.
In addition, the OnePlus 13 will receive security patches for six years, which will keep hackers out and solve problems. This means that OnePlus’ update policy is not as good as that of Google and Samsung (both seven years), but certainly not bad either.
The OnePlus 13R was also announced
OnePlus is also releasing the successor to the OnePlus 12R in the Netherlands. The OnePlus 13R is with 749 euro a lot cheaper than the 13 and has to make do with lesser specifications. Under the hood we see a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which still delivers good performance. OnePlus adds 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Like its bigger brother, the 13R has a 6000 mAh battery, although charging takes longer. The phone reaches a maximum speed of 80 watts, meaning a charge takes 52 minutes. You have to purchase the fast charger separately and wireless charging is also missing. The screen of the OnePlus 13R is 6.78 inches and is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 7i.
The OnePlus 13R has an IP65 certification and is therefore less water resistant than its bigger brother. The smartphone does have the same handy feature alert slider to switch between sound profiles. The device can count on four major Android upgrades and six years of security patches.
An important difference with the OnePlus 13 is that the 13R has less extensive cameras. In addition to a 50 megapixel main camera, the smartphone has a simple 8 megapixel wide-angle lens and a 50 megapixel telephoto lens that zooms in by only 2x. With the OnePlus 13, the camera can bring the image 3x closer.
OnePlus 13(R) prices at a glance
The OnePlus 13 (with 256GB storage), with a suggested retail price of 999 euros, is a few tens of euros more expensive than its predecessor. The OnePlus 12 cost 949 euros at release. The 512GB variant of the 13 retails for 1149 euros.
OnePlus asks 749 euros for the 13R, which is also 50 euros more than the OnePlus 12R. These are all prices at a glance:
