OnePlus 13 caught next to Oppo Find X8

The OnePlus 13 is getting ready for launch and expectations are high for this new flagship from the company, especially since it seems to have received a new magnetic charging technology similar to what Apple uses for their devices.

However, it is not the charger that is most important news as for the OnePlus 13, it’s its screen. It comes with a new localized refresh rate control technology.

How it works

It is an innovation that allows the phone to dynamically adjust the refresh rate in different areas of the screen to optimize both energy efficiency and smartphone performance.

The company talked about the new technology on the Chinese social media platform Weibo and some of the features of the new display were detailed.

This localized refresh rate control means that certain parts of the screen can run at higher rates when needed, while other parts, where content is static, will run at lower rates.

When the user is playing or looking for something on the Internet, areas with intense movement would have a higher refresh rate.

Areas with still images would run at a lower refresh rate, so battery life would not be significantly reduced.

The first images of the new phone

Apart from this new technology, the device will have a new design for the camera. The camera island, now detached from the phone’s frame, takes on a distinctive circular shape.

The Hasselblad logo has been moved outside the camera island and placed above a decorative metal strip.

Camera system

The main camera is 50 megapixels and uses the Sony Lytia LYT-808 sensor. The ultrawide camera uses a different sensor: the Samsung ISOCELL JN1.

For those who want to take photos from a distance, there is a periscope telephoto camera with 3x zoom and Sony Lytia LYT-600 sensor.

Battery life

The OnePlus 13 is rumored to have a 6,000mAh battery, combined with software and hardware optimizations. The new model also comes with IP69 certification, meaning the highest degree of protection against water and dust.

In terms of performance, the phone will have Snapdragon 8 Elite, the latest and most powerful chipset from Qualcomm.
