The OnePlus Open 2 it is the successor to the original Open from 2023, which was one of the best foldables of that year.
A new leak now brings us our first look at the OnePlus Open 2. These renders are reportedly based on a “late-stage prototype,” so little things could change, but nothing huge.
The OnePlus Open 2 will be larger and thinner than its predecessor, while retaining the large circular Hasselblad-branded camera island.
The phone looks like it will be just 10mm thick. when folded and will be rated IPX8 for water resistance. In comparison, the OnePlus Open is 11.7mm thick. when folded and only rated IPX4 for splash resistance.
The OnePlus Open 2 is rumored to feature an 8-inch “2K” LTPO OLED foldable display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 6.4-inch external display. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
The phone is said to have a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. There will be two selfie cameras, one on the inner screen, the other on the outer screen, and these will be 32 MP and 20 MP, respectively.
The smartphone will have a 5,900mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The device will ship with Android 15 and OxygenOS 15.
The OnePlus Open 2 will be a revamped Oppo Find N5, which is set to launch in China early next year. According to this publication, Open 2 will be released “at the end of the first quarter”, so sometime in March. This information contradicts a recent rumor which claims that we will only see OnePlus’ next foldable in the second half of next year.
