Online cinema Wink launches music service

The application is already available in the AppStore and Google Play, and its operator is PJSC Rostelecom. For now, a subscription to the service is available to subscribers of the T2 operator (formerly Tele2) for 149 rubles per month.

The content for the service is handled by OOO Zvuk, which is part of the Sber ecosystem. The Wink Music library contains more than 70 million tracks, but, like other Russian services, the catalog does not include new albums by Western artists, which were removed after the introduction of sanctions.

Wink Music is currently in beta testing mode. Experts believe that music streaming is a logical complement to the online cinema content, and predict that in the future the service will be able to offer exclusive tracks. The full launch of the service is expected towards the end of autumn.

  • In 2022, Zvuk allowed artists to upload their work to the platform, bypassing the distributor. By the spring of 2023, the service’s library was replenished with tracks from foreign labels that had left Russia – Cigarettes After Sex, Gorillaz, etc.
  • According to TelecomDaily, the music services market volume by the end of 2023 was 25 billion rubles, increasing by 8.6% year-on-year. Yandex took 59% of the market, MTS – 19%, Sber – 19%.
