Due to their often limited electric range, large electric commercial vehicles can only be used for short trips. A Hydrogen version of the Opel Vivaro that consumes hydrogen has already been shown and now there is also such a Hydrogen variant of the larger Opel Movano. This offers two advantages. The electric range of over 500 kilometers is considerably greater than that of the existing electrically powered Movano Electric without a fuel cell (224 kilometers). In addition, you can refuel a Movano Hydrogen at the – albeit limitedly available – hydrogen stations in 5 minutes, while a regular electric Movano has to be charged for hours. The Opel Movano – just like the Citroën Jumper and Peugeot Boxer, actually a Fiat Ducao – has a 150 hp and 410 Nm strong electric motor. The fuel cell (45 kW) and the four fuel tanks are neatly concealed under the loading floor. Depending on the chosen variant, the Movano Hydrogen offers 13 to 14 cubic meters of loading space. These loading volumes belong to the L3H2 and L4H3 versions respectively. Shorter variants do not seem to be coming. Under the front seats is an 11 kWh lithium-ion battery. This package not only serves as a transfer hatch for the power generated by the fuel cell, but can also actually be charged via a plug. Extensive technical specifications are not yet available. Opel is also keeping its lips sealed about when the market introduction will take place.
