Open call for artists in Collage Festival 2024

The second edition Collage Festival, under the motto “a collage of arts in Bucharest, announces an intense and diverse program, between October 25 and 27the Green Hours (Calea Victoriei no. 120). From the desire to promote the art of collage, which has a lot of representatives in Romania, 6 artists, founders of the communities Bucharest Collage Collectivein partnership with Art Cell and Be goodhave conceived a festival bringing together a multimedia exhibition of collages with 30 artists selected through a nationwide open call, 5 concerts, 2 DJ sets, 2 theater performances and 2 thematic discussions, exploring a diversity of analog collage techniques , digital, assemblage, installation, sculpture, video collage and mixed media collages.

Collage is perhaps the most playful artistic technique and best represents the dynamics of the 21st century: it combines currents and trends, travels to the past and the future, deconstructs and reassembles reality as it pleases, and this play opens new perspectives and outlines new connections. This fundamental aspect of collage art is also the theme of this edition of the festival – Playing with Realityand interested artists are invited to enter a maximum of 5 works, until September 20the no 23:59using the form available. Winners will be announced by email on October 7, 2024and the selected works will be exhibited for one month, between October 25 and November 25. Following the selection process, three prizes will be awarded, worth 3000, 2000 and 1000 lei respectively, but all 30 artists chosen will have a total of over 100 of physical works exhibited during the festival, as well as digital portfolios hosted on the online platform. Registration for the open call is free of charge.

The team consists of artists Cristiana Bucureci, Andrei Stan, Ada Moses, Nicoleta Ababei, Ruxandra Niculae and Livia Marinescu, each with complementary studies and knowledge. The 6 artists are the founders of the communities Bucharest Collage Collective and Romanian Collage Collective. The main curator of the exhibition is Daniel Loagarfounder The art cell and Wood Be Nice.

The main objective of the festival is to promote the art of collage and its representative artists from Romania, and in this sense, the project involves a significant online component, both through the platform collagefestival.ro on which the 30 selected portfolios will be exhibited, as well as through a podcast hosted on YouTube and promoted on all the social media channels of the organizers, which aims to release 10 episodes by the end of this year, with guests from this artistic sphere.

Playing with Reality is an invitation for artists to explore and play, especially to explore reality through the prism of collage, encouraging artists and the public to see the world through a new filter: that of limitless creativity and conscious play.
