OPEN HEART MASCULINITY: What is this new love trend that will give us hope in love and men?

Will the end of toxic men be marked once and for all? Anyway, that’s what a new report released by dating app Bumble suggests, highlighting the top love trends that promise to be happening right now.

One of them, called Open Hearted Masculinity or “open-hearted masculinity,” finally promises to restore our trust in men, who will increasingly allow their sensitivity to speak outside of virilistic patterns.

These gentlemen have less and less restraint when it comes to being vulnerable with their partner and that’s actually quite healthy for the couple. This is a way to not only improve your mental health, but also to re-establish communication with your significant other and strengthen the trust and bond that unites you with them.

A quarter of the men surveyed (25%) said that in the last two years they had become more vulnerable and open to the people they dated. This also had a positive impact on mental health for a quarter of them (25%).

Almost a third (32%) say it is one of the most important aspects of a relationship. However, men still seem reluctant to break down barriers, with only 1 in 6 men (17%) admitting they have become more vulnerable and open with the people they date, despite the freedom of speech among comedians, singers or athletes in terms of their mental health.

It seems that men are still under some pressure from stereotypes of traditional masculinity. The numbers from Bumble are here to prove it: the French actually talk less about their emotions than the global average (36% vs. 54%) and are less likely to challenge gender roles (29% vs. 49%).

Among the other dating trends expected to hit by 2024, according to this Bumble study conducted with a panel of 25,000 of their members, we’re talking generational dating.

Singles are more inclined and open to the idea of meeting someone who doesn’t necessarily match their specific type. For 2 out of 3 singles (63%), age is no longer an important factor in seeking a relationship, for example, and nearly two-thirds of French women (64%) are now more open to the idea of dating someone younger.

Values -Core Dating takes on an almost political dimension. This concerns singles who expect their partners to actively support social causes. Being interested in it is no longer enough, some people expect their other half to be just as committed as they are, preferably in favor of the same goals.

In 2024, singles will also make every effort to avoid “Betterment Burnout”, this fatigue from excessive self-improvement. Today’s attraction will instead come down to some form of emotional intimacy, especially for women. Almost a third (32%) of Bumble members worldwide believe that emotional intimacy is more important than sex, and is even more attractive than a physical relationship.

Temporal decline refers to this refusal of single women to break free from the traditional relationship pattern (marriage, children, apartment).

With MVP (Most Valuable Partner) we see that sport is on its way to dominate relationships. Almost a third of singles surveyed worldwide (31%) cite a shared passion for sports that has become essential, whether you’re a participant or a mere spectator.

Finally, Consider-Date prioritizes self-care and mental health and encourages singles to be more open about their mental health with their dates in order to take more time to get to know each other.
