OPEN MIND will present its hyperMILL CAD/CAM suite and agile Hummingbird-MES at the show Formnextwhich takes place from November 19 to 22, at stand 120-A39 in hall 12.0 at the Messe Frankfurt am Main. HyperMILL ADDITIVE Manufacturing, a CAD/CAM solution for controlling additive and subtractive processes, will be in the spotlight.

Visitors to the OPEN MIND stand can familiarize themselves with the latest technologies and view additive workpieces programmed and machined using hyperMILL.

hyperMILL ADDITIVE Manufacturing expands the capabilities of five-axis simultaneous machining for the Direct Energy Deposition (DED) and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) processes. NC codes can be conveniently programmed and automatically simulated to avoid collisions. As a comprehensive software solution, hyperMILL supports efficient hybrid machining that combines additive and subtractive processes on one machine.

Repairs instead of discards – with hybrid machining

OPEN MIND will demonstrate at Formnext what can be achieved with additive, hybrid manufacturing – even heavily worn parts can now be repaired using hybrid machining.
An illustrative example is a turbine blade. The blade was repaired on a HERMLE C 32 five-axis machining center using hyperMILL with a Blum TC52 touch probe. This complex task includes the steps of inspecting the blade, removing the damaged area, applying the material, recording the shape and deformation, programming and machining. hyperMILL VIRTUAL Machining makes this repair an efficient process. Based on the measured values, this software creates a digital twin of the workpiece and the machine situation for NC code simulation and optimization.
