OpenAI he presented SearchGPTan AI search engine designed to provide “quick, timely answers” combined with “clear, relevant sources.”
SearchGPT is currently available to a select group of users, with OpenAI seeking feedback on the product. The company says that “best” features from the search engine will be integrated into ChatGPT in the future.
SearchGPT is designed to combine conversational capabilities with real-time information from the web. This, according to OpenAi, can make it faster and easier to find what you are looking for. SearchGPT is able to answer questions with up-to-date information from the web and can respond to subsequent ones conversationally, with the shared context included in each additional query.

OpenAI says it is committed to a “thriving ecosystem of publishers and creators” and wants help users discover publisher sites. The answers provided by SearchGPT include link attributions so that users are aware of where the information is coming from. Additionally, there is a sidebar with links to additional sources.
Publishers can manage how they appear in SearchGPT, but OpenAI says SearchGPT is about search and separate from training generative AI models. Sites can appear in search results even if they have opted out of generative AI training.
