OpenAI has shot down the account of an engineer who designed a robot rifle that can be controlled via ChatGPT

The use of artificial intelligence to take human life or even to cause harm is taboo for most commercial solution developers. This probably played a role in the fact that at OpenAI the account of the external developer who developed a robot rifle that can be given instructions via ChatGPT was quickly disabled.

Half the world is afraid of artificial intelligence, with a slight exaggeration, which is not helped, among other things, by projects similar to it, which was recently launched by a design engineer with the help of OpenAI’s commercial chatbot, ChatGPT.

The designer, nicknamed STS 3D, has created a robot weapon with its own software that can be verbally commanded via ChatGPT, and which can react amazingly quickly and precisely to the received parameters, i.e. commands.

A quickly went viral online on reddits video so, among other things, you can see how the engineer waves a yellow balloon in front of the robot weapon, which the targeting system follows exactly, and when the

command, the robot drops a sequence into the wall on the left and right at lightning speed, and if that wasn’t enough, the chatbot recites the template text in an enthusiastic female voice, as if it had just answered the question of how many chromosomes human DNA consists of:

If there’s anything else I can help with, just let me know!

Of course, it can help, the robot using the OpenAI Realtime API then receives a complex command line, in which it receives, based on angle data, how many bullets it should shoot. After completing the task, the engineer praises the robot, to which he again receives a template response that seems quite absurd in the current situation:

Glad I could help!

The video not only blew the fuse among average viewers who immediately watched Terminators, but also, by definition, among OpenAI.

The company informed the press that the developer’s account was proactively suspended, as he violated the policy with his “invention”, which specifically prohibits ChatGPT from taking an active role in taking human lives or harming human lives.

Even so, the engineer probably does not have to fear that his career has come to an end, since his developments will certainly have customers who have been working behind the scenes for a long time on battlefield solutions where soldiers can remotely control firearms or combat air and ground vehicles.
