The company behind the development of the most widely used artificial intelligence ChatGPT plans to introduce the new product at the beginning of next year. He can’t hesitate for long, because the competitor Anthropic introduced a similar tool a few weeks ago, which it has already offered to selected companies and developers.
The head of OpenAI, Sam Altman, emphasized that systems in the form of autonomous “agents” have great potential to change the way people use artificial intelligence. He also indirectly indicated that the automation that “agents” will bring may deprive some people of their jobs, but it may free the hands of others for creative activities that they would otherwise not have time for.
Operator is designed to autonomously perform various tasks on a computer, such as writing source code, scheduling meetings, or booking travel tickets, which could significantly change the way people work with artificial intelligence and computers in general. According to the agency Bloombergwhich informed about the new tool, Operator will first be available to developers via the API interface. OpenAI thus wants to enable third parties to integrate the tool into their own applications and thus help in its optimization and wider use.
