Opening of important roads announced for December

Serbia is preparing for the opening of several key roads by the end of this year, which will significantly improve connectivity in the country. The acting director of JP “Roads of Serbia”, Zoran Drobnjak, pointed out that works are in the final stages on several important sections.

Drobnjak, guest on TV Pink, said that the opening Šabac-Loznica expressway54 kilometers long, planned for mid-December, while a section of the road will be opened at the end of December Valjevo-Lajkovacwhich connects Valjevo with the “Miloš Veliki” highway, reports RT Balkan.

The section of the Moravian Corridor will also be completed in December between Kruševac and Vrnjačka Banjaas well as the share Požarevac-Golubac in a length of 20 kilometers.

According to him, the works are continuing on the highways Čačak-Požega i Kuzmin-Rača. The Čačak-Požega section, 24 kilometers long, includes two large tunnels, Laz and Munjino brdo, with a total length of five kilometers.

Drobnjak stated that the work on this section will be completed by June 28, 2025, with special protection measures to prevent landslides like those in Grdelica.

Special emphasis was placed on the safety of the Munjino brdo tunnel, which has a 60-centimeter-thick concrete formwork. One pipe has been dug, and there are still 100 meters of work remaining on the second pipe, where digging is progressing at a rate of two meters per day.

Drobnjak emphasized that safety of existing bridges is checked once a month, and there is a quick response in the case of established damages, while in cooperation with local self-governments, work is being done on the reconstruction of regional and local roads.
