Opening of the Central Bus Station by the end of September

The Mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, visited the final works on the Central Bus Station, which is located in Block 42 in New Belgrade, confirming that the station will be ready for opening by the end of September. This station will take over the entire intercity bus traffic from the city center, which will significantly relieve traffic in the central city areas.

Šapić expressed satisfaction with the progress of the works, noting that the planting of trees and asphalting of the internal road are in the final phase, while the station building itself is already completely ready for use. He also added that the Central Bus Station will serve as starting point for tourist and school excursionsand that 200 parking spaces will be provided, Beoinfo reported.

During the tour, the mayor emphasized the importance of the new the “South” stop at Autokomanda, which will be equipped to receive passengers in two to three monthswhich will increase safety and improve the organization of intercity traffic. The plan is also to introduce a special public transport line that will connect the new stop with the rest of the city.

Šapić recalled the challenges faced by the Central Bus Station project, including the need to reorganize the management of BAS. Nevertheless, the problems were successfully solved, and the station is now ready to become one of the most functional facilities of its kind in the region. He added that he would construction of the large cell building is likely to begin during the fall or winter.

In addition, the mayor announced that work will be done to find new locations for intercity and tourist buses, in order to reduce traffic problems in Belgrade. The city plans to establish special stops that will not endanger the daily flow of traffic, but will enable faster and safer arrival of passengers to their destinations.

Šapić also pointed out that the goal of the city government is to improve Belgrade’s traffic system so that it functions at the level of other European metropolises, where strict standards for buses and other modes of transportation are fully respected.

It was allocated for the construction of a new bus station 17 million euros.
