Operation School. 50 searches in drug trafficking files in schools
- 50 searches take place on Monday morning in cases of drug trafficking in schools.
- The operation called the School takes place in Bucharest, Iasi, Galaţi, Paşcani and Podu Iloaiei.
- There are dozens of pupils and students on the list of suspects, but many consumers will also arrive at the hearings.
Operation School. 50 searches in drug trafficking files in schools
The prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Iasi Territorial Service together with the officers of the Iasi Organized Crime Brigade carry out 50 house searches in the municipalities of Iasi, Bucharest, Galati, Paşcani and the city of Podu Iloaiei, in several criminal cases having as the object of the crimes of high-risk drug trafficking, high-risk drug trafficking and unlawfully carrying out operations with psychoactive substances, carried out especially in school settings.
According to the investigators, “the investigations target a number of 40 perpetrators, most of them pupils and students of some educational units within the Iaşi county, against whom the criminal investigation bodies have carried out extensive documentation and investigation activities in combating the trafficking of prohibited substances”.
The hearings will take place at the headquarters of DIICOT – Iasi Territorial Service, targeting both the perpetrators and approximately 70 consumers (mostly pupils and students).
The research carried out benefited from the support of the Iasi County School Inspectorate, DGASPC Iasi and the St. Children’s Hospital. Maria, who monitors the cases of minors intoxicated as a result of the consumption of prohibited substances, the investigators also announced.
At the same time, the prosecutors from the Department of Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism – Vaslui Territorial Office together with officers from the Vaslui Organized Crime Service carry out four house searches in the municipality of Bârlad, in a file regarding the commission of the crime, without right, of operations with psychoactive substances.
The administered probation highlighted that “during the year 2024, a number of four perpetrators repeatedly sold psychoactive substances to consumers, especially students of educational units within the radius of the municipality of Bârlad”. The hearings in this case will take place at the headquarters of DIICOT – Vaslui Territorial Office.
This large-scale action represents “along with similar others carried out by DIICOT prosecutors, a prompt and sustained reaction in combating drug trafficking and consumption among students, but also an alarm signal for awareness of the dimensions of this phenomenon and the need to stop it through combined efforts from the part of the entire community, especially parents, teachers and other authorities with attributions in the area of prevention”, stated DIICOT representatives.
