Oppo has officially unveiled its latest Reno smartphones: the Reno 13 and Reno 13 Pro. Read about the most important specifications and features here.
Oppo Reno 13 series official in China
Oppo has unveiled new smartphones in its home country China. This concerns the Oppo Reno 13 series, consisting of the 13 and 13 Pro. The devices are extremely similar, both in appearance and specifications. In terms of prices, they are (converted) in the middle segment. In China, the devices are sold from 354 euros and 445 euros.
Starting with the similarities between the Reno 13 and 13 Pro. Both smartphones run on a special MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chip. It is a faster variant of the Dimensity 8300 chip, so the devices should run nice and smooth. The housings of the telephones are also IP69 dust and waterproof. That is better protected than most Android smartphones.
The Reno 13 (Pro) has an AMOLED screen on board with a refresh rate of 120Hz for smooth images. The screen on the Reno 13 is 6.6 inches, while the Reno 13 Pro has a 6.8-inch screen. The successors to the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro have 12 or 16GB of RAM and 256GB to 1TB of storage space.
The new Oppo phones have a 50 megapixel main camera and 8 megapixel wide-angle lens. The Pro also gets a 50 megapixel telephoto lens that can zoom in up to 3.5 times. There is a 50 megapixel camera on the front for taking sharp selfies. The optical fingerprint scanner is located under the screen.
Of course, the new Oppos run on the latest Android version: Android 15. The manufacturer has significantly adjusted its software shell – ColorOS 15 – and provided it with new functions. The software is faster and smoother, making apps run smoother and install faster.
Of course, there are all kinds of AI functions available, including Circle to Search. This allows you to search for something by circling it on your smartphone screen. Oppo’s update policy for the Reno 13 (Pro) is unfortunately unclear.
As mentioned, Oppo is only announcing the Reno 13s in China for the time being. It seems unlikely that they will also come to the Netherlands. The manufacturer usually only launches smartphones with even numbers in our country, such as the Reno 8 series, Reno 10 series and last summer the Reno 12 series.
Oppo also announces tablet with unique chip
The new Dimensity 8350 chip is not only found in Oppo’s latest smartphones. The brand new Oppo Pad 3 also has it on board. The tablet is an affordable version of the Oppo Pad 3 Pro, but still has a clear screen with a high resolution, 12GB of RAM and a large battery that charges quickly.
The included stylus should feel like you’re drawing on paper and the weight of the tablet has also been reduced. The Pad 3 has a modest price tag of 314 euros. It is not known whether a similar Android 15 tablet will also come to the Netherlands. Oppo may then package it under the brand name of sister brand OnePlus.
