Orion launches rice cracker ‘New Lungji’ made with 100% domestic rice < Distribution < Article

Orion (CEO Seungjun Lee) announced on the 18th that it has launched ‘New Lungji,’ a rice cracker made from 100% domestic rice.

Orion developed this product to encourage rice consumption while making rice more delicious and healthy.

Unlike regular snacks, New Lungji is baked in the oven instead of fried, and is made with 100% domestic rice, making it perfect for consumers looking for a flour-free snack. It is expected to provide familiarity to the middle-aged and older generation who grew up eating Nurungji, and newness to the MZ generation. The product name wittily reflects the product’s characteristics by combining the English word “New” and “Nurungji.”

An Orion official said, “Nurungji is a rice cracker that combines a lighter and crispier texture with a sweet and savory flavor, made with 100% domestic rice and Orion Global Research Institute’s product development technology.” He added, “We expect it to be popular among a wide range of consumers, as we have reinterpreted Nurungji in a comfortable and friendly way that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy.”

Meanwhile, New Lungji is a product made at Orion Nonghyup’s Miryang factory. Orion Nonghyup is a joint venture established by Orion and Nonghyup in 2016 to expand consumption of domestic agricultural products. They use 1,000 tons of domestic rice annually in various products such as ‘Market One Nature Oh! Granola and Oh! Granola Bar’, ‘Taste of the Sun Sun’, and ‘Chicken Pop’. Since New Lungji is also made from 100% domestic rice, it is expected to further contribute to increasing rice consumption.
