Noting that Osmaniye Organized Industrial Zone (Osmaniye OSB) has become a region with an iron and steel ecosystem thanks to investments, Osmaniye OSB Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors Şerif Tosyalı said that the region is attractive not only for iron and steel production but also for the sectors that use these products as input. He said it was an investment area.

Tosyalı said, “Iron and steel investments in Osmaniye OIZ have led to the clustering of many new industrial facilities both within the OIZ and around us, thus a truly win-win cooperation was born here.”

Osmaniye OIZ has a strong production capacity

Reminding that Osmaniye OSB was established as a mixed OIZ on an area of 100 hectares in 1994, Osmaniye OSB Deputy Chairman Şerif Tosyalı said that the industrialists in Osmaniye OSB initially had concerns about the waste management of the iron and steel sector, but these concerns were resolved thanks to environmentally friendly investments. and noted that the region is entering a period of rapid growth. Şerif Tosyalı noted that they quickly reflected the green transformation in the region with environmentally friendly investments and set an example for many companies in the region.

Pointing out that they contribute to the sustainability of the industrial ecosystem in the region by supporting the investments of industrialists, Şerif Tosyalı said, “Our region reached 700 hectares with the expansion works in 2004.

Currently, 115 facilities are operating on 141 industrial parcels. And we provide employment to 13 thousand 500 people through the activities of these companies. “In our region, where iron and steel-metal, textile, automotive, machinery manufacturing, agricultural machinery and equipment, leather and food sectors are located, 90 percent of the employment is provided by the iron-steel, metal and textile sectors,” he said.

“We are in an advantageous position in terms of logistics”

Pointing out that the logistics infrastructure of Osmaniye OIZ is developing rapidly in order to make the industrial production of the region more competitive, Tosyalı said, “By providing a direct connection between the port to be established by Tosyalı Holding in the Burnaz location and the industrial zone, the maritime transportation and logistics advantages of the region will increase.

Within the scope of the Çukurova Junction Line Project, all organized industrial zones in Osmaniye and its surroundings will be connected to the railway network and connections will be established with OIZs and ports across Türkiye. These projects will increase Osmaniye OIZ’s competitive advantage in terms of logistics and reduce transportation costs. “These investments will enable the location of industrial facilities producing iron and steel-related by-products in our region,” he said.

Noting that they continue their environmentally friendly investments with renewable energy projects, Osmaniye OSB Deputy Chairman Şerif Tosyalı said that they established a 7.5 megawatt solar power plant (SPP) with the decision taken in 2016, and that the solar panels placed on the roofs of 22 facilities in the region account for 2 percent of the OIZ’s electricity consumption. He noted that he welcomed it. In addition, 96 percent of the energy demand in the region will be met with the natural gas provided in 2023 through BOTAŞ main distribution station with a capacity of 45 thousand sm/hour. Şerif Tosyalı stated that thanks to this infrastructure, the energy needs of new investments can be met without interruption.

Growth will continue with new OIZ investments in Toprakkale

With the inclusion of the new industrial parcel of 522 thousand 302 square meters in Osmaniye OIZ, new investment areas will be offered to industrialists in the region. In addition, the entrepreneur committee decided to add the 235 hectare area allocated for the Machinery Specialized OIZ planned in Toprakkale to the Osmaniye OIZ, and the work started. Şerif Tosyalı stated that these investments will bring Osmaniye OIZ one step closer to its goal of becoming the industrial center of Turkey.
