Business people from different countries came together at the “Global Tourism Forum Fergana Investment and Tourism Summit” organized by the World Tourism Forum and discussed the investment opportunities in the country and the rising market potential of the Fergana region.

The summit, hosted by Fergana Region Governor Hayrulla Bozorov and organized in cooperation with the Uzbekistan Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, was held at the Hudayar Khan Palace in Kokand city of Fergana province.

Speaking at the opening of the forum, Fergana Region Deputy Governor Responsible for Investment and Foreign Trade, Nuriddin Mamajonov, explained that Fergana is not well known, it is only known as a valley, but it consists of 3 regions: Fergana, Andijan and Namangan.

Noting that the history of the region is very old and that it dates back 3 thousand years in Chinese records, Mamajonov said, “Our purpose from this forum is to introduce the Fergana region to people. Because Fergana has a lot of industry and opportunities. Business people from more than 30 countries participated in the forum. Our aim is to help these people.” “We want to show our business opportunities and show how there is a very good chemical industry, cotton, silk and textile production in Fergana.” he said.

SPEAKERS DISCUSSED THE INVESTMENT AND TOURISM OPPORTUNITIES OF THE REGION

After the opening speeches, the summit continued with various sessions.

Former Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Özgül Özkan Yavuz, in her speech at the panel titled “Tourism Infrastructure: The Main Driving Force of Investment”, said that tourism is not only a source of money but also a huge employment area for young people and provides social development.

Explaining that tourism in the region should be developed and its features that will make it stand out should be determined, Yavuz stated that Fergana also has features such as natural beauties and strong cultural heritage.

More than 25 speakers from different countries took part in the panels organized under the headings of investment and tourism, and topics such as “Fergana’s Industrial Cooperation and Investment Attractiveness”, “Pearl of the Valley Fergana: Tourism Opportunities” and “Financing of Investment Projects” were discussed.

At the summit, 250 guests from the business and investment world, including Kazakhstan Tourism Committee Chairman Kairat Sadvakassov, D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization Secretary General Ambassador Isiaka Abdulqadir, Kuwait Investment Committee Deputy Chairman Ali Al Jasim and 2019-2024 Member of the European Parliament Jose Ramon Bauza Diaz, were present. More than 100 participants took part.

Painter Sayime Serra Erdoğan also organized a futurist painting workshop in the event area in order to establish a cultural and artistic bridge between Türkiye and Uzbekistan. The painting, completed with the contributions of the participants, will be presented as a gift to Fergana Region Governor Hayrulla Bozorov.

Agricultural products and industrial products grown in Uzbekistan were exhibited and introduced to the participants at the stands set up in the event area.

The “Global Tourism Forum Fergana Investment and Tourism Summit”, which draws attention to the region’s cultural heritage, natural beauty and rising market potential, aims to attract significant investments to Uzbekistan’s Fergana Valley and promote sustainable development.

The summit ended with the closing program with the participation of Fergana Region Governor Bozorov.
