The hardcore/punk scene in Serbia in the first half of the 90s survived in conditions of poverty and sanctions. From that period, we remember the bands that left a serious mark on the regional map. Let’s mention only Belgrade ones Dead Ideas, Definite Choice i Unison, after that Will I? I won’t! from Kraljevo, i.e. Niš November. In Novi Sad, the leaders of the independent scene were Atheist Rap i Scream of a generationas well as a whole series of small but very significant names PRovocation, Blitzkrieg, Mitesers, Strive For More, Nospeedlimit.
Nospeedlimit was a classic local band that released two tapes and one CD during its existence. In addition, they appeared on domestic and foreign compilations, and were part of the Role Model CD compilation together with several other bands from Novi Sad, which was released after the band stopped working.
It was a band that was adorned by the camaraderie of five guys from the remote Novi Sad neighborhood of Novi Nasel, one of the strongholds of the local scene. Kids, high school students in all their madness rehearsed, recorded, played and brought along a large crew who were regularly in the front rows in front of the stage at all concerts. With a couple of interruptions, Nospeedlimit existed from the very end of 1991 until October 2005, when the founder of the band and the author of most of the songs, Ljubiša Georgijević, lost his life in a traffic accident.
After they are as a supporting part of the fanzine Out Of The Darkness two CD compilations were released, along with the latest, the 17th issue, and LP Nospeedlimita. Three decades after the release of the first tape and 20 years since the last recording of this band, this record with 24 songs in over 40 minutes is their kind of best off.
In addition to the music, this edition is also decorated with a color booklet on 20 A4 pages, full of stories from the band members, but also some veterans of the local scene such as Pećinko and Radulet from Atheist Rap, Ćata (drummer of many Novi Sad bands), as well as Milomir (Strive For More, First Flame …) who grew up with the team from the band and followed them from the moment when the first riffs were created. There are also numerous photos, posters, lyrics of all the songs, along with various anecdotes and explanations, when and how which text was written, that is, from whom which riff was drawn or under what direct influence which thing was created.
This is a simple edition that every actor of the scene of that time should have, but also all those who did not catch that period, because it is a testimony of a gloomy time and a valuable collector’s copy, which is a serious homework given as the story of a band is presented on a record.
