Over 800 drivers fined for driving on the wrong side of the road in St. Petersburg in a week

The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate conducted a new raid.

More than 800 motorists were held accountable for driving into the oncoming traffic lane in the wrong place.

As reported by the press service of the State Traffic Inspectorate of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, traffic police officers conducted a preventive event called “Oncoming Lane” in the region from July 1 to 7.

In total, 1,036 administrative protocols were drawn up against drivers during the raid. 809 fines were issued for driving in a lane intended for oncoming traffic in violation of traffic regulations (Part 4 of Article 12.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation), and another 14 for repeat offenses.

In addition, over the course of a week, 213 drivers were caught on the roads of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region who were driving in the opposite direction on a one-way road.

Let us recall that driving into a lane intended for oncoming traffic is punishable by a fine of 5 thousand rubles or deprivation of rights for up to six months.
