Overwatch 2 Will Begin 6v6 Game Mode Testing Soon

Blizzard has been planning to bring Overwatch’s 6v6 mode back to Overwatch 2 as a free-to-play game for a while. One of the biggest reasons for this is undoubtedly that the player base is almost never decreasing. Today, the company gave details about how this mode will work for a few weeks, starting in December.

As reported by Blizzard, a new 6v6 mode will begin testing in unranked game lists with season 14. The first test will require at least one hero from each role in teams, with a maximum of three. Players will be able to match with other players by randomly queuing up.

In a second test later in the season, a different version of the original 2-2-2 role composition will be tested. While the main targets of the changes are tanks, there will also be some balance adjustments specific to the 6v6 mode.

The company is positive about the coexistence of both existing 5v5 and classic 6v6 formats in Overwatch 2. However, this will depend on how players cope with the changes in Season 14. If 6v6 is not liked by the majority of the community, there is a high probability that it will be abandoned.
