Caring for newborns and young children brings parents many joys, but also worries, especially when it comes to the health and safety of their little ones. The latest generation of smart socks called Owlet Dream Sock, which is intended for children from 0 to 18 months (approx. from 3 to 14 kg), aims to provide parents with a more peaceful sleep and a better overview of their child’s condition.
Owlet Dream Sock is a specially designed sock equipped with smart sensors. These sensors monitor important physiological data of the child, such as heart rate, blood oxygenation and sleep quality. The information is then transferred to the Owlet Dream App mobile application, which offers parents a clear view of the data in real time. The measurements are accurate, which is also guaranteed by the UK/CE health certification.

One of the main goals of this technology is to help parents better understand their child’s sleep habits. The application also provides recommendations that can contribute to creating an ideal sleep environment, thus supporting the healthy development of the child.
Unlike previous models that focused primarily on alerts for possible breathing problems, the Dream Sock is designed to monitor a child’s overall well-being. Parents thus obtain useful data without being constantly exposed to the stress of false alarms.
While the Owlet Dream Sock can be a useful addition for parents, experts caution that no technological device can replace personal care and supervision. The disadvantage of smart socks is the high price, in Slovakia they are sold for an amount approaching the border of 400 euros.
