Panettone recalled from the market due to incorrect labelling, the Ministry of Health warns

The packaged dessert has been withdrawn from store shelves due to a possible risk for consumers due to the presence of allergens not declared on the label.

The Ministry of Health announced the immediate recall from the market of a batch of Vergani mini panettone. The packaged dessert has been withdrawn from store shelves due to a possible risk to consumers due to presence of undeclared allergens on the label. As explained in the alert notice, dated 14 November and published on the Ministry’s portal dedicated to safety alerts and recalls of food products by operators, the mini panettone was recalled due to incorrect labelling.

In detail, the product subject to the recall is a batch of classic gluten-free mini panettone sold under the Vergani brand in single packs of 100 grams each. It is a mini panettone produced and packaged by the company Zero+4 Srl in its factory in Desio, in the province of Monza and Brianza.

The packages affected by the alert are those with the batch number 196597 and the minimum shelf life set for 21 May 2025. The notice explains that the recall was ordered as a precaution by the manufacturer itself for the possible presence of the incorrect claim “LACTOSE FREE” on the label. In fact, the product, on the contrary, contains lactose.

The unsold packs have already been withdrawn from the shelves of shops and supermarkets. Anyone who has already purchased the mini panettone with the batch and expiry date indicated above and is lactose intolerant should not consume the product, but is advised to return it to the point of purchase. For other buyers, however, the product is safe and can be consumed.
