Panther ruled in the Belgrade Arena, Barcelona spoiled Zvezda’s perfect start

Barcelona defeated Red Star in Belgrade (98:94) after extra time, in a dramatic match at the Belgrade Arena in the 4th round of the Euroleague.

The “red and whites” played for a perfect start to the season after three opening victories, but Kevin Panter, a Partizan player in the past two seasons, stopped them – his threes at the end of regular time and overtime were crucial for the outcome to prevail on the side of the Catalans.

Panther was the most effective for Barca with 26 points, Jan Veseli added 19, and Jabari Parker 13 points. At Zvezda, Jago dos Santos scored 23 points, Nikola Kalinic scored 19, and Joel Bolomboy scored 11 points.

The home team was closer to victory in the regular course, they were in the lead during most of the match, but a Panther three-pointer 10 seconds before the end brought Barca one step closer to victory – 86:84. However, in the next attack, Jago scored two points for Zvezda and took the match into overtime.

And there Red Star had everything in their hands, two minutes before the end they had a three-point lead and an attack, but triples by Laprovitola and again by Pantera gave Barca a definitive victory.

In the remaining tonight’s matches, Monaco beat Virtus at home – 101:85, Efes defeated Olympiacos (91:89) in Istanbul, while Asvel beat Baskonia (76:69).
