In Sweden, the fraud alarms have replaced each other in recent years. Now a mail provider warns of several so-called “parcel scams”.
These are messages sent out either as text messages or emails, where it says that the delivery of a package has not gone as it should. To fix this problem, the recipient is asked to contact a specific email address.

Package on the way – or?
Now it is the name of the company DHL that the fraudsters use to deceive their victims, something that the magazine Råd och rön was the first to report on. Postnord has also been one of the companies used by fraudsters.
Both companies have previously been used by fraudsters. Last summer, Nyheter24 was able to report that several people received text messages from a sender who claimed to be DHL.
Then the recipient was notified that a package was on its way, and to see where the shipment could be collected, one had to click on a link – a classic trick on the part of fraudsters.
– Technically, there is no way to curb this either for us or others whose names are being used, said Pär PihlqvistCommunication Lead at DHL Sweden, to Nyheter24 then.
– When we send text messages to our customers, the text messages contain all the information the customer needs to feel confident about where the package is coming from, where it can be collected and what the customer needs to do to collect the package. Links in our text messages refer to the dhl.com domain.

Warning from scam emails from “DHL”
In the new fraudulent messages, the recipient is instead asked to contact the sender themselves. These types of scams are also common.
They usually become even more common when Christmas shopping and big sales, where people order a lot of goods online, begin, writes Advice and findings. Even Postnord or similar companies such as DB Schenker may be used by fraudsters to instill confidence in the victims.
