(Part 1) We test NVIDIA’s AI technology: AlzaPC with Gainward GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER

Summer is here and with it plenty of space to jump into the stories written by the latest gaming titles in your free time. One second you can sail into the galaxies of virtual universes and the next you can be flying on a broom above the school of magic and spells. But how to choose the right gaming machine? Does the new graphics chip technology really bring such a big advantage to the smoothness of gaming experiences? We will look for answers to these questions together.

Test series Gainward GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Ghost in the AlzaPC assembly

We have prepared a small series of articles for you, in which we will test playing various A titles with a graphics card Gainward GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Ghost with an NVIDIA graphics chip.

We will mainly be interested in the practical benefit of the latest technologies, the abbreviations of which you are certainly not unfamiliar with, because you meet them or will meet them in the graphic settings of the games themselves. Let’s break down the abbreviations RTX, DLSS, DLAA and see what the technologies hidden under these letters actually bring to players and what effect they have on increasing frame rates and the degree of detail in the rendering of the game world.

Introducing the test gaming PC

We will work with a computer assembly AlzaPC GameBox Prime. What to expect from the upper middle class line-up? Absolutely smooth gaming at high resolution 1440p. The set offers a balanced configuration of the mentioned graphics card Gainward GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Ghost and the Intel Core i7 12700KF processor, which basically reaches a frequency of up to 5.0 GHz and is among the most attractive pieces from the 12th generation Alder Lake at current prices.

What else is in store for this gaming PC? Fast M.2 NVMe SSD storage with a space of 1 TB, operating memory with a capacity of 32 GB and a frequency of 3200 MHz, and excellent connectivity and design. The motherboard has an integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module, the SXT K106 case is surprisingly robust and practically solved. A glass side in the form of a door? Clearly. Easily detachable magnetic front panel to access dust filters? You should have it. In the back there is also a relatively decent space for cable management, which was already successful from the factory. The fans are quiet, the permeability for air flow is generous. Perhaps the only thing missing from perfection is USB-C on the front panel. At a price of CZK 37,990 at the time of writing this article, the AlzaPC GameBox Prime offers an excellent price/performance ratio.

We test popular games and the contribution of AI technologies from NVIDIA

What are we going to test? Together, we’ll set out to explore A-list gaming titles that are compatible with NVIDIA technologies. We will imagine the real benefits of their potential. In short, we will get the most out of the set and advise you on how to set up the games so that you use the technology correctly. You’ll also see a visual comparison of what each feature brings to the final image that will light up on your screen.

Introducing the magic of DLSS – how does it help smooth games?

Deep Learning Super Sampling, or the inflected technological designation DLSS. What is behind this abbreviation? A sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithm, which is not just another AI buzzword. What can he do? And how do its partial functions manifest themselves in compatible games? DLSS will be one of the main topics of our test series. To begin with, let’s try to imagine its sub-components in a clear and simple way.

  • Super Resolution – An algorithm that can upscale the generated smaller screen resolution to a higher one and thus increase the performance of the card while maintaining high image quality. This is the first feature that DLSS has brought to improve the performance efficiency of graphics cards
  • Frame Generation – The later DLSS 3 provided us with the groundbreaking possibility of adding up entire image frames. In compatible games with this technology, the graphics chip can significantly increase the frame rate (FPS), and thus the fluidity of the game. It is worth noting that this feature is inherent to graphics chips from the RTX 40 series onwards
  • Ray Reconstruction – Where to go from image generation? The topic of recent years is ray tracing and its effects of light, glare and reflections. This is exactly what DLSS leans towards in the latest version 3.5. The addition of ray tracing effects leads to even more precise details of reflections in water, reflections on different types of surfaces and the virtual perception of light rays

We have covered the basics of the theoretical background and in the next parts, you can already look forward to practical tests and comparing results. We will focus on individual technologies and some specific A games in detail. For now, check out the selected reports AlzaPC with Gainward GeForce RTX graphics cards.
